2018-19 Players of the Week

Week 9 Winner
Name: Bryce Babich
Team: Peewee B
Position: Defense
Hometown: Warren, NJ

This weekend, Bryce was named captain by his teammates as they competed in the Hershey Tournament. The team was 2-1-1 over the weekend and just missed out on the championship game. Coach Don remarked, "He had an amazing weekend at Hershey. He is the voted captain by his teammates and a hard working player on defense." In one game, he scored the only goal in a much needed victory.

Week 8 Winner
Name: Henry Schneider
Team: Peewee AA
Position: Forward

This past week Henry Schneider was on fire. Helping to lead the Peewee AA team to a 2-0 weekend with victories over the Lawrence Flames and Hollydell Hurricanes. On Saturday, Henry had a hat trick in an 8-2 win over the Flames and followed up that effort on Sunday with two more. Coach Ray said, "Henry has really picked his game up as of late. He's a driven young man whose presence helps provide the team with energy."

Week 7 Winner
Name: Michael Gionco
Team: Bantam A
Position: Forward
Hometown: Mendham

According to Coach Steve, "Michael has been a model player this season. He works hard in practice, even harder in games, and is a driven young man." This weekend, Michael led his team to a 1-1 weekend with a tight loss to the NJ Colonials on Saturday and a win over the Jaguars on Sunday. Down a few players on Saturday, it was Michael's energy that kept the team in the game. The team finished the weekend with a convincing 7-4 victory over the Jaguars thanks to Michael's leadership.

Week 6 Winner
Name: Jacob Ganz
Team: Squirt B
Position: Center
Hometown: Middlesex, NJ

According to Coach Craig two weeks ago, " Jakob Ganz had a monster weekend scoring 5 goals and 2 assists in 2 games. He has really elevated his play and responsibilities with each game this season." One of those games was the league opener against the Hunterdon Bears in a 9-5 victory. Again this weekend, he led the team in points with one goal and two assists in a close contest versus the Red Bank Generals. Jacob has consistently provided leadership and focus in games at at practice.

Name: Zach Bahammou
Team: Bantam B
Position: Goalie

The Bantam B team had an excellent weekend, finishing 2-0 in two pivotal league games. On Sunday, Goalie Zach Bahammou led the team to victory with a clutch 31 save performance in a 4-1 victory over Montclair. Coach Eric called Zach's efforts, "Big time and clutch." Outshot 32 to 20, the Bantam B team was victorious thanks in part to Zach's efforts between the pipes. Coach Mitch stated that, "Zach has been a hard working young man who is a good leader on the team."

Name: Val Kurylko
Team: Peewee A (Ball)

Val Kurylko was the leader this past weekend as the Ducks Peewee A (Ball) team was victorious in both games. Coach Ball said, "Val had himself a weekend. I knew he was going to become a scoring leader this season and he did so when we needed it most." Val netted a hat trick in a pivotal league game against the NJ Freeze in a 4-2 victory and followed that effort up with a goal and two assists in a 6-2 win over EJEPL foe Long Island Gulls.

Name: Michael Tompkins

Michael Tompkins is off to an excellent start this season on and off the ice. After working hard in practice, he takes part in the optional off ice training. These efforts have paid off as he led the team with a hat trick last weekend and has about 10 points on the season already. Coach Don remarked, "Michael is a hard working player that the team relies on in important game situations. He's been a pleasure to coach."

 

Week 2 Winner
Name: Deryk Jones
Team: Peewee A (Alvin)
Position: Center
Home Town: New Brunswick, NJ

Deryk Jones was instrumental in both Peewee A Alvin victories this weekend by leading the offensive charge. On Saturday the team played the Montclair Blues in a pivotal early league game and Deryk led the charge with two goals and two assists in a 7-4 victory. On Sunday evening in Voorhees, NJ, the team played an older Flyers Youth team in one of their toughest contests of the season. Again, Deryk led the team to a 5-3 victory. Coach Alvin remarked about Deryk's great weekend, "It's a pleasure to see how Deryk has developed over the past two years. He takes the game seriously with tremendous focus and has been a leader on the team this season."

Jay helped pace the 18U to a 3-0 record in it's first weekend recording 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points.Besides his scoring prowess, Jay anchored a gritty defense that recorded two shutouts and only yielded two goals over for the weekend.
