Hershey, PA:

The PW Protec Ducks set off for Hershey after their Thanksgiving Day feast and saved room to devour their opponents. With 12 teams in the high PWA bracket, they knew they had a hard road ahead. The weekend started off with a big 10-2 win over the Long Island Gulls with points coming from everyone on the roster. Saturday they started off with a 9-0 victory over the Hershey Bears and then a 6-5 win over the Hunterdon Bears to end the day. Sunday morning the Ducks found themselves in 2nd place and in the semi-finals. Their first task would be the NJ Stars, a team filled with former teammates, classmates and friends. The Stars took an early 2-goal lead but the Ducks tied the game up by the end of the 1st and never looked back. They won their semi-final game 5-3 and prepared for the championship later that afternoon. The stage was set for a battle as the Ducks dropped the puck against the Hollydell Hurricanes in a winner-take-all fight. Hollydell jumped out to a 1-0 lead but once again Protec stormed right back to make it a 4-1 game. A few costly penalties in the 3rd put the Ducks in a tough spot when the Hurricanes scored twice and closed the gap to 4-3. Coach Don called a time out to rally the team and they scored their next goal after puck drop to go up 5-3. The Hurricanes would not go away quietly and rallied for one more goal after pulling their goalie in the final minute. In the end, the Ducks stayed strong and pulled out the championship victory 5-4.
